"Hezbollah & Venezbollah Against America"

Tell me. Have we lost our will to survive and excel as a nation of liberty and exemplary moral values? Are we now a nation of blind sheep led by the blind shepherds? Why are there so many of us, Jews and Christians, who are allowing those who are intent on destroying our nation and Israel to go unopposed?  

The first and most fundamental role of our government is to defend our citizens against foreign enemies! This includes keeping a strong alliance with those nations that share our values and desire for common defense. Yet, for years, we have allowed Iran to keep supplying missiles to Hezbollah to attack Israel, and now we are closing our eyes to Iran supplying missiles to "Venezbollah" in our own backyard, who may soon be capable of hitting our cities with weapons of mass destruction - unless we stop them now!



On October 14, 1962, when the horrors of WWII and the Holocaust were still fresh in our national memory, a US Air Force U-2 plane captured photos of Soviet missile bases under construction in Cuba. President Kennedy immediately gave an ultimatum to the Kremlin to withdraw.  Two weeks later, a series of back-channel communications resulted in an agreement for Khrushchev to back off.  In recent days, Die Welt of Germany published an investigative report on the agreement between Iran and Venezuela to build a joint missile base in Venezuela. But this time, our government has spoken not a single word of warning against Iran.  Obama mentioned nothing in his recent Middle East speech about this Iranian intrusion to threaten our security.  Instead, he threw away the US commitment to protect Israeli security by calling on Israel to base future peace negotiations around the indefensible 1967 borders!  

  

Iran has repeatedly stated her call to destroy Israel and our nation!  First Israel, the "little Satan", and then America, the "big Satan".  Iran is racing to build her nuclear weapons and missile delivery capabilities, while forming alliances with Hezbollah and now "Venezbollah" as their missile launching pads.  Today, there are thousands of hostile missiles pointing towards Israel, more than towards any other country, and many of these missiles are now equipped with the GPS systems to quite acurately hit Tel Aviv, Haifa, and all other Israeli population centers. Iran's goal is clearly evident to equip Venezbollah to target our cities in America with deadly missiles. 

 

"Now in that day the remnant of Israel, and those of the house of Jacob who have escaped, will never again rely on the one who struck them, but will truly rely on the LORD, the Holy One of Israel." Isaiah 10:20.

 

Let us pray, as we take our stand in support of secure Israel and America, that the time of turning away from relying on those who destroy us has come, and now it is time for Christians and Jews in America to turn their hearts toward the Holy One of Israel.

It's time to take back America's spirit of independence!

On May 9th, 1977, I was among twenty or so immigrants who gathered at the U.S. District Courthouse in Lexington, Kentucky, to be sworn in as naturalized citizens of this great nation of America. Our hearts were filled with great expectation and joy. For me personally, it was a time in my life to "go forth from [my] native land...to the land that [He has shown me]." I was proud to be called an American, to be a citizen of this great nation!  The judge led us in a public proclamation of the following Oath of Allegiance and Citizenship to America:
 
... I will support and defend the Constitution and laws of the United States of America against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I will bear arms on behalf of the United States when required by law; that I will perform noncombatant service in the Armed Forces of the United States when required by the law; that I will perform work of national importance under civilian direction when required by the law; and that I take this obligation freely without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; so help me God.
 
With this proclamation, I became a citizen of this FREE SOCIETY.  I stood in agreement with our Founders that our Freedom is a precious gift from the GOD of the BIBLE, acknowledging publicly that there is no FREEDOM possible without our continued obedience to, and reliance upon, the God of Israel, "so help me God!"  

I personally see a providential hand of God in the establishment of the United States of America in 1776, just as I see it clearly in the re-establishment of the nation of Israel in 1948. America was founded primarily by Christians who framed its Constitution to preserve this free society that honored their Christian heritage. The founding documents and statements confirm repeatedly that their moral and spiritual values were shaped by their acknowledgment of divine providence over the course of this nation. (Read some quotes from early documents listed below.) 

They also wanted to ensure that their government would not exert tyrannical power over its people by restricting liberty and freedom to worship, as did the governments of their previous countries from which they rebelled to gain their independence.  Thus, they established the Bill of Rights, the First Amendment of which states:

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

In other words, the U.S. government must not force people to follow one national religion by edict or to restrict anyone's freedom to exercise his/her faith. Thus, Jews and other peoples of faiths found liberty and opportunity to pursue their individual expression of faith and happiness.  Furthermore, it was inevitable that many founding leaders of this nation, more than any other nations of the world, understood the divine election of the children of Israel.  Rabbi Ken Spiro recounts in his article, "Jews and the Founding of America", how Jews have contributed to the shaping of democracy in this country. He also writes about how President George Washington had so openly shown his gratitude to the support of Jewish leaders. Spiro wrote:    

President George Washington remembered the Jewish contribution when the first synagogue opened in Newport, Rhode Island in 1790. (It was called the Touro Synagogue and it was Sephardic.) He sent this letter, dated August 17, 1790: "May the children of the stock of Abraham who dwell in the land continue to merit and enjoy the goodwill of the other inhabitants. While everyone shall sit safely under his own vine and fig-tree and there shall be none to make him afraid.

Thus, America, more than any other nations of the world, has been exceptionally and divinely blessed, and has also provided a safe haven to Jews as she benefited, in turn, from the tremendous contributions its Jewish citizens have made. In due course, as divinely purposed, America became the first to recognize and support the newly re-established nation of Israel in 1948. This was the culmination of our American spirit of independence. 
 
Today, America has become the oldest constitutional government in existence, celebrating its 235th birthday. Many believe that we must finally and completely get rid of any remnants of our past spirit of independence and Judeo-Christian values if America is to progress and survive in the global, 21st Century world.  Are they correct?  It is time for Christians and Jews in America to stand together to re-examine the current course of this nation in light of our moral and spiritual values that made America an exceptional nation and an ardent friend of the children of Israel. 
 
It is well for us to read some noteworthy statements found in our Founders' documents and in the words of President George Washington: 
 
The Declaration of Independence, 1776: 
We hold these truths to be self-evident: That all men are created equal; that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights; that among these are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness; that, to secure these rights, governments are instituted among men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed; that whenever any form of government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the right of the people to alter or to abolish it ...
 
The Continental Congress, The Thanksgiving Proclamation, 1777: 
Solemn thanksgiving to Almighty God for his mercies, and of prayer for the continuance of his favor and protection to these United States; to beseech him that he would be graciously pleased to influence our public councils, and bless them with wisdom from on high, with unanimity, firmness, and success; that he would go forth with our hosts and crown our arms with victory...
 
George Washington's Circular to the States, 1783:
I now make it my earnest prayer, that God would have you, and the State over which you preside, in his holy protection, that he would incline the hearts of the Citizens to cultivate a spirit of subordination and obedience to Government, to entertain a brotherly affection and love for one another, for their fellow Citizens of the United States at large, and particularly for their brethren who have served in the Field, and finally, that he would most graciously be pleased to dispose us all, to do Justice, to love mercy, and to demean ourselves with that Charity, humility and pacific temper of mind, which were the Characteristics of the Divine Author of our blessed Religion, and without an humble imitation of whose example in these things, we can never hope to be a happy Nation.
 
George Washington's First Inaugural, 1789:
It would be peculiarly improper to omit in this first official act my fervent supplications to that Almighty Being who rules over the universe, who presides in the councils of nations, and whose providential aids can supply every human defect, that His benediction may consecrate to the liberties and happiness of the people of the United States a Government instituted by themselves for these essential purposes, and may enable every instrument employed in its administration to execute with success the functions allotted to his charge. In tendering this homage to the Great Author of every public and private good. The propitious smiles of Heaven can never be expected on a nation that disregards the eternal rules of order and right which Heaven itself has ordained. 
 
George Washington's Thanksgiving Proclamation, 1789:
Whereas it is the duty of all Nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey his will, to be grateful for his benefits, and humbly to implore his protection and favor-- and whereas both Houses of Congress have by their joint Committee requested me to recommend to the People of the United States a day of public thanksgiving and prayer to be observed by acknowledging with grateful hearts the many signal favors of Almighty God especially by affording them an opportunity peaceably to establish a form of government for their safety and happiness.

American Exceptionalism:
Can any popular uprising birth a free society?


Can popular uprisings among the

Islamic states in the Middle East

give birth to free societies?


The American Revolution: What allowed it to birth a free society and keep her as an exceptional nation?


How about Egypt? Who can transform

her into a free society?


It takes an emergence of a group of national leaders with core "free society" values to transform an oppressed nation into a free, democratic society!   

 

Unfortunately, such leaders are rarely found among the ruling members of oppressing nations, for only when there exists a subculture group that already upholds these free-society values could such transformative leaders be bred and nurtured. 

 

The American Revolution was one such exception in history. Here, the colonial leaders were already governing their affairs with free society values. It was only a matter of time for our founding fathers to revolt against their oppressive British rulers, and form a sovereign nation of their own by declaring that:

liberty"We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness. That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed."

 

Assurance of equality, liberty, and the governance of people from their consent are the key values they had already upheld as being undeniable truths from their Creator. This began the birth process of a new, free society. Then, they proceeded to incorporate their values into their Constitution so that no future leaders would easily destroy this free society - thus the rise of the American Exceptionalism!  

 

How about Egypt? Is there any subculture group inside Egypt that upholds the same free society values?  Is there a group of leaders who can transform Egypt into a free society?  Unfortunately, we do not see any leaders with these core free society values in this nation where 95% of the population believes that Islamic Shariah should play a significant role in their governing principles.   

bolshevikNeither did the Bolshevik Revolution have such a subculture of leaders. Their leaders held no free-society values. As a result, their uprising created a monster state that went on to murder millions of its own citizens.  Neither did the Iranian Revolution of 1979 that led to today's radical Islamic rule, threatening the security of its neighbors and exporting terrorism overseas.  

Nor will Egypt, or any other Islamic state in the Middle East, be able to birth a new free society that will assure freedoms of speech, expression, religion, press, and equal rights to women and other minority groups, because these values are not compliant with Islamic Shariah laws that are upheld by the largest majority of their citizens.

In the modern history of the Middle East, there is one shining example of this rare birthing of a free society. That was the re-establishment of the nation of Israel in 1948 that created the only oasis of freedom and liberty among the nations ruled by dictators and oppressors.  Like America, Israel was raised by a group of leaders who were bred and nurtured in the subculture that upheld free society values as an endowment from their Creator.  And also, like America, Israel has realized an admirable economic and social freedom for its citizens.   

In Ezekiel Chapter 34, God condemned false leaders as ones who have fed themselves rather than feeding their own people, and instead "with force and severity [they] have dominated the people" (Ezekiel 34:2,4).  But, God said that true leaders will heal them, comfort them, bring them back to their own land, and give them spiritual and economic blessings (34:13-31).  

Now, back to Egypt. Without any free-society subculture or leaders in place, the current popular uprising of people - who are basically inclined toward Sharia law - will only lead to an emergence of more dictatorial leaders (including those backed by the Muslim Brotherhood), bringing more misery, oppression, and bondage to their people!  While their pro-U.S.A. military is still in control, we must do all we can to help them develop a constitutional framework and governmental structures that would incorporate free society values. But, will that ever be realized? Will we find a free society arising in Egypt? I am not convinced that this is even remotely possible.

True Friends of Israel,
Please Stand!


According to a new poll (conducted from October 3rd to 5th by McLaughlin & Associates for the Emergency Committee for Israel), an overwhelming majority of Americans are pro-Israel!! But who constitute those pro-Israeli Americans? We find that CJUI, as an alliance of Conservative Christians and Jews, does indeed represent the segments of Americans who provide the strongest support to Israel.

For our analysis of the survey results, we chose five categories of respondents, and then mapped out the percentage of those in each category who agreed with each of the following seven statements.

As expected, a large percentage of Jewish Americans consistently responded with strong pro-Israeli sentiments. Their high scores were matched only by "Very Conservative" Americans, 91% of whom the survey identified elsewhere as Conservative Christians. This alliance of Conservative Christians and Jews, in support of a secure Israel and a free America, forms the core constituency and mission of CJUI.  Therein lies the high energy and passion that we are experiencing at CJUI.

In contrast, far less than half of those Americans who identified themselves as "Very Liberal" and/or "Atheists" responded positively towards Israel.  This introduces a troubling dichotomy within the Jewish American community leadership that tended to lean more towards the Liberal side on many issues.


The "Protestant" line, that represents the combined scores of both the Conservative Christians and Liberal Christians, lies somewhere above the mid-point between the "Very Conservative" and "Very Liberal" lines, agreeing with the survey's finding elsewhere that there are over twice as many Conservative Christians as Liberal Christians in America. 


In regard to Statement #7, it is noteworthy that 3 in every 4 Jewish and "Very Conservative" Americans would not vote for an anti-Israel candidate, even if they were to agree with this candidate on most other issues. Such a heightened sense of importance and awareness, that they now attach to the subject of maintaining a safe and secure Israel, will further prompt the strengthening of the alliance between Jews and Conservative Christians in America. It also could bring a shift within the Jewish community towards more conservatism and Zionism. Further, these results go hand-in-hand with the Jewish and "Very Conservative" American responses to Statement #1, where again, 3 out of 4 respondents believe that the enemies of Israel are likewise the enemies of America.

The rising threats to the security of Israel and America are a strong factor behind the above survey results. They help us to recognize our shared responsibility to defend our liberty and Judeo-Christian values - for ourselves and for our children, both in America and in Israel.

That, indeed, is our goal at CJUI.
