We are devastated and outraged by the brutal and antisemitic murder of Yaron Lischinsky and Sarah Lynn Milgrim, two dedicated employees of the Israeli Embassy in Washington, DC, who were gunned down in cold blood as they exited the Capital Jewish Museum. Our hearts break for their families, friends, and colleagues, and we stand united in mourning with the people of Israel and the Jewish community around the world.
This was not an isolated act of violence — it was a targeted, ideological attack. The shooter’s cries of “Free Palestine” as he carried out this heinous act reveal the deep rot of antisemitic incitement that increasingly masks itself as political expression. There is nothing “freeing” or just about murdering innocent people. This attack, at an event centered on multifaith cooperation and humanitarian aid, is a grotesque desecration of values shared by Jews, Christians, and all people of conscience.
We unequivocally condemn this act of terror and the poisonous hatred that inspired it. We also denounce the rising tide of antisemitism that has manifested in violent attacks, vandalism, and social ostracization in recent months. Let us be clear: no political cause justifies violence against Jews — not in Washington, not in Jerusalem, not anywhere.
As Christians and Jews united in our love for Israel and for truth, we reaffirm our shared commitment to:
- Stand against antisemitism in all its forms — whether disguised as anti-Zionism or expressed through violence, slander, or intimidation.
- Pray for peace, security, and justice for all people in the region, including both Israelis and Palestinians.
- Work together to build bridges of faith and truth in a world too often divided by lies and hatred.
We call upon leaders of all faiths, nations, and communities to condemn this atrocity without equivocation and to take urgent steps to protect Jewish institutions, diplomats, and civilians worldwide.
May the memory of Yaron and Sarah be a blessing. May their murder not be in vain, but a clarion call to confront evil with unyielding light.
