As the world watches tension escalate in the Middle East and beyond, a dangerous idea has reemerged in American political discourse: isolationism. Once framed as prudence or neutrality, today’s isolationism is, in effect, appeasement—an approach that history has proven to be both naïve and deadly.
Let’s be clear: turning our backs on our allies, especially Israel—the only democracy in the Middle East—is not strength. It is surrender. And it emboldens regimes like Iran’s, whose leaders continue to call for the destruction of Israel, support terror across the region, and march toward nuclear capability.
In stark contrast, what we’re witnessing from President Trump and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is a revival of moral clarity and strategic courage. Together, they are pursuing a bold foreign policy rooted in strength, deterrence, and alliance—a modern-day echo of the Reagan-Thatcher-John Paul II axis that brought down the Iron Curtain.
This is not just about politics. It’s about values. It’s about good and evil, life and death, tyranny and freedom. The Iranian regime is not misunderstood. It is murderous. It is not oppressed. It is the oppressor. And it is directly responsible for the suffering of countless people across the Middle East—from Israelis and Americans to Iranians who long for freedom.
Yet some voices in the media and politics have chosen to downplay this threat, mocking the very leaders who are doing the most to counter it. They claim to represent a populist movement, but in truth, they misrepresent it. They are neither conservative nor compassionate, neither pro-American nor pro-Israel. And their rhetoric finds common cause with antisemites, Islamists, and Marxist radicals.
We at Christians and Jews United for Israel believe that this moment calls for clarity and unity. The peace and security of the Middle East—and the moral leadership of the free world—depends on standing up to tyranny, not shrinking from it.
The Abraham Accords were just the beginning. With continued bold leadership, the dream of a safer, more prosperous, and peaceful Middle East can become reality. But that requires courage—not compromise. Partnership—not passivity.
We call on Christians and Jews of all backgrounds to stand together, to pray for wisdom for our leaders, and to speak out with moral conviction. As Scripture teaches us: “Seek peace and pursue it” (Psalm 34:14)—but peace must be pursued with strength, with truth, and with unwavering support for those who stand on the side of life and liberty.
Now is the time to choose: appeasement or alliance. Silence or solidarity.
We choose Israel. We choose courage. We choose peace through strength.
