But recent political shifts, especially among younger Americans, reveal a sobering trend: support for Israel, particularly within the rising generation of Republicans, is softening. According to recent Pew Research, favorable views of Israel among Republicans under 50 have declined from 63% in 2022 to just 48% in 2025.
This shift comes in the context of growing populist sentiment and skepticism toward foreign entanglements, as well as frustration with Israeli leadership. Yet while these political developments have drawn headlines, the broader question remains: What does this mean for the next generation of American support for Israel? And what can we, as Christians and Jews united in friendship, do about it?
Beyond Politics: Our Shared Covenant
Christians and Jews United for Israel exists not to promote one party or platform, but to advance a shared moral and spiritual commitment to the Jewish state and the Jewish people. Our bond with Israel is not transactional or ideological—it is covenantal.
For Christians, that bond is rooted in Scripture: in God’s promises to Abraham, in the spiritual legacy of the Hebrew prophets, and in the enduring call to “pray for the peace of Jerusalem” (Psalm 122:6). For Jews, it is rooted in history, survival, and the miracle of national rebirth.
We do not serve Israel best when we reduce support to a political litmus test. Instead, we must rise above partisanship, and work together—faithfully, clearly, and compassionately—to educate, engage, and equip the next generation.
A Moment for Reflection, Not Rejection
It’s easy to point fingers—to say this political figure “burned bridges” or that movement “turned its back.” But as people of faith, we are called to a higher standard. We believe in teshuva—repentance, return, renewal. Where relationships have frayed, we believe they can be restored. Where trust has waned, we believe it can be rebuilt.
That means listening—not just speaking. It means acknowledging the real concerns younger Americans have about war, peace, and justice in the Middle East, while also telling the truth about Israel’s challenges and triumphs, its right to exist, and its desire for peace.
We reject the notion that support for Israel is fading because of inevitable generational change. Rather, we see this as a wake-up call to do better—to reach the hearts and minds of the next generation with truth, empathy, and spiritual conviction.

At Christians and Jews United for Israel, we are recommitting ourselves to this mission. This year, we are launching:
- Youth education initiatives in churches, synagogues, and campuses to teach the historical, moral, and biblical foundations of support for Israel.
- Dialogue forums that bring together young Christians, Jews, and allies to ask hard questions and build lasting friendships.
- Non-partisan advocacy resources to help individuals and faith communities speak clearly, courageously, and compassionately in the public square—without alienating their neighbors.

Israel Needs Friends, Not Factions
The land of Israel has known conflict, courage, heartbreak, and hope. It is not a perfect place, but it is a miraculous one. It is home to millions of Jews, Christians, Muslims, and others who simply want to live in peace and dignity.
Israel’s survival—and its flourishing—is too important to be left to the shifting winds of politics. It demands a deeper loyalty, one rooted in faith, truth, and shared destiny.
