Reflections on anti-Semitism as a mobilization factor. By our guest author Jonas Dörge.
If someone disagrees with a person who is Jewish and expresses his fear of German right-wing extremism and answers her “pack your bags” or “I wish you a good trip …”[1] speaks out of this the worldviews of the anti-Semite. The saying that one should leave strikes above all Jews from the left or left-liberal spectrum, who express their fear of the strengthening of German right-wing extremism with the idea of emigration. Of course, it is also legitimate to contradict Jews, yes, you can also polemicize against them, especially if you think that they let themselves be put in front of a cart that will eventually leave them lying mercilessly, if not even run over.
It may be exaggerated and unfounded when Jews fear becoming the object of persecution, if a party like the AfD becomes involved in a government, or even becomes the leading governing party and they therefore announce that they will leave the country, should it happen. But the sentence, I have a packed suitcase in the hallway, is not a phrase but an expression of a deep-seated Jewish trauma that comes from a German policy, a German ethnic community. If, from a political spectrum whose borders to German right-wing extremism are fluid, political opponents who see themselves as Jews or who are identified as such, emigration is recommended, this must chase the cold shiver down one’s spine.
Because whether you instruct them to pack their bags or “Free Palestine!” calls, basically means the same thing: “Jews out!” The difference between the two slogans is that one from the right-wing spectrum of Germany is not (yet) able to mobilize the masses, the other is an expression of a permanent mobilization that has been going on for two years, which in turn does not matter to those who serve the statements of Prien, Friedman and others as proof that the seizure of a Nazi party is imminent.
But contrary to the many statements of various experts, the German-national nationalism of the wing, which now dominates the AfD, can only be regarded as a cheap farce of what was to be observed as a Germanism until the formation as a national community. 2] The delusional idea of the omnipotence of the Jews presents itself in the voter and supporter potential of the AfD and in statements of various representatives of this party as measurable secondary anti-Semitism, but is not issued as a slogan in programs or in the party’s writings, in contrast to National Socialism.
In addition, the joke about George Soros, who controls a crazy youth and causes the death of the German people in the great exchange, the denunciation of an Anetta Kahane as a Bolshevik-Jewish commissioner, who hands the upright German to the opinion dictation of an elite of globalists, etc., is now hardly suitable, to mobilize to marches at the universities, to elevators on the streets, to boycotts against Jewish shops or to public expressions of applause and the tribute to anti-Jewish handicrafts.
The AfD stands for a bad return of what constituted German post-war society and not for the rise of a National Socialist party as in the 1920s. The fact that the FDP in particular was also this in the fifties, depending on regional peculiarities also the SPD, the CDU and the CSU and it is today above all and foremost the party Die Linke remains in the consciousness of those who call the AfD an anti-Semitic party from the representations even if it has been stated elsewhere that historical revisionism, guilt defense and structural anti-Semitism in the AfD remind of the political culture typical of the fifties and sixties. The party has incorporated the völkische left overs into party politics, which was pushed out of the CDU under Helmut Kohl and especially under Angela Merkel and which – unlike in Möllemann’s time – no longer has a place in the FDP today. In a party that is half the size of the CDU once was under Kohl and Adenauer, the sediment of reactionary-völk ideology, which never disappeared in Germany, therefore appears all the more threatening.
At a celebration of the Burschenschaft ( student fraternity ) Normannia in Heidelberg in 2020, a party guest was asked if he was Jewish. After he said yes, five to six people pulled their belts. The group hit the 25-year-old against the legs, back and soft tissues, while he loudly ‘Stop!’ Called. No one stepped in. In addition to belt blows, insults were beaten on the student: ‘Drecksjude’, ‘Saujude’ and ‘Judensau’. […]. Then he was thrown at with coins from the mob. 3] In Germany, right-wing extremists who are aware of their tradition, and then pull their belts when they become aware of a Jew, still exist. But the tradition-conscious fraternity students did not pull out their belts on the open road, as the Syrian Knaan Al S. did in the middle of Berlin[4], but in the club premises closed off from the public. Instead of the brown shirts, who sang the song of the knife, from the Jewish blood, on the streets of German cities, and spread fear and terror among Jewish citizens, it is today other organizations that uphold the “spirit of resistance” against Jewish injustice at the universities to have founded a state and make the whole neighbourhoods no-go areas for Jews. These, who today mobilize the masses with a Ramallah background, rely above all on the active help of the partisans of the party The Left and see themselves in harmony with many media that spread the rumor about the Jewish state.
But German society is indifferent to anti-Semitism in two respects. The anti-Semitism based on the world domination of the “globalists” and the “death of the people” sought by a supposedly influential Jew and the structural anti-Semitism, which is more strongly represented in the AfD than in the rest of the population, are just as not suitable for mobilizing the right-wing extremist Jew-haters to anti-Semitic marches to a significant extent, as the far-right Israel-haters succeeded in setting up rallies against Israel to a significant extent. But even when the AfD politician Stephan Brandner mocked the rather sparse expressions of solidarity in the face of the assassination attempt on the synagogue in Halle, that it was not Germans who were threatened by terror[5], this inhuman was wrong with his assessment. Because even if assassins or murderers such as the perpetrators Balliet, Rathien or even the NSU, who recurred on ideological pieces of National Socialism, threatened Jews or chose them for the purpose of their assassinations, this was and has not been the subject of mobilizing the indignation of the so-called civil society, as was the 7th. October had been.
