As fireworks light up the sky this Independence Day, Americans from every background pause to celebrate the freedoms and principles that define our great nation—liberty, justice, and the unalienable rights endowed by our Creator. July 4th is more than a date on the calendar; it’s a powerful reminder that freedom must be defended, truth must be spoken, and the bonds of faith and friendship must be nurtured.
At Christians and Jews United for Israel, we see a sacred parallel between the American struggle for independence and the modern State of Israel’s fight for survival and peace. Both nations were founded on deep moral convictions. Both have been shaped by the values of faith, perseverance, and democratic ideals. And both continue to stand as beacons of hope in a world that often teeters on the edge of chaos.
Israel, like America, was born against the odds. In 1948, the modern Jewish state emerged in fulfillment of ancient promises and in the aftermath of unimaginable suffering. Today, it remains the only democracy in the Middle East—vibrant, pluralistic, and committed to the values we hold dear: freedom of speech, freedom of religion, and the rule of law.
Yet Israel’s independence, like ours, is never guaranteed. Surrounded by hostile regimes, under constant threat from terror networks, and often vilified in global forums, Israel relies not only on its military strength but also on the unwavering support of allies who recognize truth and justice when they see it.
This July 4th, let us reflect on the freedoms we enjoy—and renew our commitment to stand with those who defend theirs. Supporting Israel is not only an act of solidarity; it is an affirmation of the Judeo-Christian values that shaped Western civilization and gave rise to our most cherished institutions.
Let us pray for the peace of Jerusalem. Let us speak boldly in defense of truth. And let us never forget that the fight for freedom anywhere strengthens freedom everywhere.
Happy Independence Day—and may God bless America and Israel.
